Description
A delicious and easy recipe for green bean bundles wrapped in bacon, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
- 8 slices bacon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F.
- In a large pot of boiling salted water, blanch the green beans for 3-4 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and immediately plunge them into ice water to stop the cooking process. Drain again and set aside.
- Take 4-5 green beans and bundle them together. Wrap a slice of bacon around the bundle, securing it with a toothpick if necessary. Repeat with the remaining green beans and bacon.
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic powder, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
- Place the bacon-wrapped green bean bundles in a baking dish. Drizzle the soy sauce mixture over the bundles, ensuring they are well coated.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and caramelized, turning the bundles halfway through for even cooking.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a smoky flavor, try using smoked bacon or adding a dash of liquid smoke to the soy sauce mixture.
- You can substitute the green beans with asparagus or Brussels sprouts for a different twist on this dish. Adjust the blanching time accordingly.
