Description
Homemade McGriddle Muffins are a delightful breakfast treat that combines fluffy muffins with savory bacon or sausage and melted cheese, all drizzled with maple syrup.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 4 slices cooked bacon or sausage patties
- 4 slices American cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a muffin tin or line it with paper liners.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- In another bowl, mix the milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined; do not overmix.
- Gently fold in the maple syrup, ensuring it’s evenly distributed throughout the batter.
- Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups, filling each about halfway.
- Place a slice of bacon or a sausage patty on top of the batter in each cup, followed by a slice of cheese.
- Top each muffin with the remaining batter, covering the meat and cheese completely.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the muffins are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the muffins to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For a sweeter version, add chocolate chips or blueberries to the batter before baking.
- Substitute the bacon or sausage with a vegetarian alternative or omit it entirely for a meat-free option.
