Description

Enjoy the best of both worlds with these Homemade Pizza Burgers! A perfect fusion of cheesy, saucy pizza and juicy, flavorful burgers, these are ideal for weeknight dinners, game-day feasts, or casual get-togethers. Made with a hearty beef and sausage patty, marinara sauce, melted mozzarella, and crispy pepperoni on a toasty English muffin, every bite is packed with flavor!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground sausage (bulk or Italian)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 8 oz mushrooms, thickly sliced
  • 1/2 yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp marjoram
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 6 English muffins, split
  • 2 oz pepperoni, diced
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meat Mixture:
    • In a large bowl, combine ground beef and sausage.
    • Season with marjoram, salt, and black pepper.
    • Mix well and form 6 equal-sized patties.
  2. Cook the Patties:
    • Heat a large skillet or grill over medium heat.
    • Cook each patty for 4-5 minutes per side until fully cooked.
    • Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Sauté the Vegetables:
    • In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
    • Add mushrooms and onions, cooking until softened (about 5 minutes).
    • Stir in garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Simmer the Marinara Sauce:
    • Pour marinara sauce into the skillet with mushrooms and onions.
    • Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    • Add diced pepperoni and mix well.
  5. Toast the English Muffins:
    • Preheat the broiler on high.
    • Place split English muffins on a baking sheet, cut-side up.
    • Toast under the broiler for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.
  6. Assemble the Pizza Burgers:
    • Place a burger patty on each toasted muffin half.
    • Spoon marinara sauce and sautéed veggies over the patty.
    • Sprinkle generously with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  7. Broil Until Cheese is Melted:
    • Place assembled burgers under the broiler for 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
    • Remove from oven and serve hot.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in a toaster oven or skillet for best results.
  • Swap ground beef for turkey for a leaner option.
  • Use ciabatta rolls, garlic bread, or burger buns instead of English muffins.
  • Make it vegetarian by using plant-based ground meat and vegan cheese.
