Description

A delicious and spicy twist on the classic grilled cheese sandwich, featuring jalapeños and a blend of cheeses.


Ingredients

  • 8 slices of sourdough bread
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded pepper jack cheese
  • 24 jalapeño peppers, seeded and finely chopped
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, shredded pepper jack cheese, chopped jalapeños, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Spread a generous amount of the cheese mixture on one side of four slices of sourdough bread. Top each with another slice of bread, creating four sandwiches.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of softened butter. Once melted, place two sandwiches in the skillet.
  4. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted. Repeat with the remaining sandwiches, adding more butter as needed.
  5. Remove from the skillet and let cool for a minute before slicing in half. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For a smoky flavor, add 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika to the cheese mixture.
