Description
A delicious and spicy twist on the classic grilled cheese sandwich, featuring jalapeños and a blend of cheeses.
Ingredients
- 8 slices of sourdough bread
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded pepper jack cheese
- 2–4 jalapeño peppers, seeded and finely chopped
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, shredded pepper jack cheese, chopped jalapeños, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Spread a generous amount of the cheese mixture on one side of four slices of sourdough bread. Top each with another slice of bread, creating four sandwiches.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of softened butter. Once melted, place two sandwiches in the skillet.
- Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted. Repeat with the remaining sandwiches, adding more butter as needed.
- Remove from the skillet and let cool for a minute before slicing in half. Serve warm.
Notes
- For a smoky flavor, add 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika to the cheese mixture.
- Try adding cooked bacon or crumbled sausage to the cheese filling for extra flavor and protein.
