Description

Japanese Hamburg Steak is a flavorful dish made with a blend of ground beef and pork, seasoned and served with a delicious sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • For the sauce:
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, panko breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onion, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and ginger powder. Mix until well combined.
  2. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a thick oval patty.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they are browned and cooked through.
  4. While the patties are cooking, prepare the sauce by combining ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and sugar in a small saucepan. Heat over low heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  5. Once the patties are cooked, remove them from the skillet and let them rest for a few minutes. Serve the hamburg steaks drizzled with the sauce.

Notes

  • For added flavor, try mixing in some grated carrots or chopped mushrooms into the meat mixture.
  • Serve the hamburg steak with a side of steamed rice or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
