Description

Keto Broccoli and Cauliflower Au Gratin With Sausage is a delicious low-carb dish that combines tender vegetables with savory sausage and a rich cheese sauce.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 cups cauliflower florets
  • 8 ounces Italian sausage, casing removed
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with olive oil.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the Italian sausage. Cook until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the broccoli and cauliflower florets. Sauté for about 5 minutes until they are slightly tender.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Whisk until well combined.
  5. In the greased baking dish, layer the sautéed broccoli and cauliflower, followed by the cooked sausage. Pour the cream mixture evenly over the top.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses over the top of the vegetable and sausage mixture.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  8. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding cooked bacon bits or diced bell peppers to the mixture before baking.
  • You can also substitute the sausage with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
