Description
Korean Marinated Eggs are a delicious and easy-to-make dish that features eggs marinated in a flavorful soy sauce mixture, perfect as a snack or side dish.
Ingredients
- 6 large eggs
- 1 cup soy sauce
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, bring water to a boil. Carefully add the eggs and boil for 6-7 minutes for a slightly soft center.
- Once cooked, transfer the eggs to an ice bath to cool for about 5 minutes. This will make peeling easier.
- While the eggs cool, prepare the marinade. In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, water, rice vinegar, sugar, minced garlic, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
- Peel the cooled eggs gently and place them in a container or a zip-top bag.
- Pour the marinade over the eggs, ensuring they are fully submerged. Seal the container or bag and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight for best flavor.
- When ready to serve, remove the eggs from the marinade and slice them in half. Garnish with chopped green onions.
Notes
- For a sweeter marinade, increase the sugar to 2 tablespoons.
- Try adding a splash of sriracha to the marinade for a spicy kick.
