Description

Loose Meat Tavern Sandwiches are a delicious and easy-to-make dish featuring seasoned ground beef served on toasted hamburger buns, perfect for a casual meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Optional toppings: mustard, ketchup, pickles, shredded cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and chopped onion. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is softened, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Stir in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer and reduce the heat to low. Cook for an additional 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens slightly.
  3. While the meat mixture is simmering, toast the hamburger buns in a toaster or on a skillet until golden brown.
  4. Once the meat is ready, spoon a generous amount onto the bottom half of each toasted bun. Add any optional toppings as desired.
  5. Place the top half of the bun on each sandwich and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add a teaspoon of cayenne pepper or some diced jalapeños to the meat mixture.
  • To make it a complete meal, serve with a side of coleslaw or potato chips.
