Description

A delicious low carb recipe featuring ground beef and cabbage, perfect for a healthy meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 4 cups green cabbage, shredded
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar substitute (like erythritol or monk fruit)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add the minced garlic and ginger to the skillet, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef. Cook until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  4. Stir in the shredded cabbage, soy sauce, brown sugar substitute, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve hot, garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • For added crunch, toss in some chopped bell peppers or carrots along with the cabbage.
  • Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option while keeping the flavor profile intact.
