Description
A delicious and indulgent Marshmallow Chocolate Poke Cake that combines rich chocolate flavor with fluffy marshmallows and creamy whipped topping.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup mini marshmallows
- 1 cup chocolate fudge sauce
- 1 cup whipped topping (like Cool Whip)
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk together until well blended.
- Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until smooth.
- Carefully stir in the boiling water (the batter will be thin). Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
- Use the handle of a wooden spoon or a fork to poke holes all over the top of the cake.
- Pour the chocolate fudge sauce evenly over the cake, allowing it to seep into the holes.
- Sprinkle the mini marshmallows over the top of the cake.
- Allow the cake to cool completely, then spread the whipped topping over the marshmallows.
- If desired, sprinkle chocolate chips on top for extra texture and flavor.
- Refrigerate the cake for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, try adding a teaspoon of espresso powder to the batter.
- You can also substitute the chocolate fudge sauce with caramel sauce for a different twist.
- For a festive touch, add sprinkles on top of the whipped topping before serving.
