Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 4 whole wheat pitas
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1 cucumber, diced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 4 ounces feta cheese, crumbled
- 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in cumin, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for another 2 minutes to combine flavors.
- While the beef is cooking, prepare the Hot Honey Feta Cream by combining crumbled feta cheese, cream cheese, honey, lemon juice, and red pepper flakes in a medium bowl. Mix until smooth and creamy.
- Warm the pitas in a dry skillet or microwave for about 20 seconds.
- Fill each pita with the cooked ground beef, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, and parsley. Drizzle with the Hot Honey Feta Cream.
- Serve immediately.
