Description
A delicious Mediterranean Tuna Pie that combines tuna, cheeses, and sun-dried tomatoes in a flaky crust.
Ingredients
- 2 (5-ounce) cans of tuna in water, drained
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup chopped sun-dried tomatoes (packed in oil, drained)
- 1/2 cup black olives, sliced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 (9-inch) pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, olives, parsley, oregano, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and then add them to the tuna mixture. Stir until fully combined.
- Place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish and pour the tuna mixture into the crust, spreading it evenly.
- Drizzle the top with olive oil for added flavor.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the pie is set and the top is lightly golden.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For a creamier texture, substitute half of the ricotta cheese with cream cheese.
- To add a bit of spice, mix in 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes or chopped jalapeños.
