Description

Melopita is a traditional Greek honey pie made with a creamy filling of ricotta cheese and Greek yogurt, sweetened with honey and flavored with vanilla, lemon zest, and cinnamon.


Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • ½ cup honey
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 pre-made pie crust (9-inch)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, Greek yogurt, honey, eggs, vanilla extract, lemon zest, and cinnamon. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  3. Pour the filling into the pre-made pie crust, spreading it evenly.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is lightly golden.
  5. Remove from the oven and allow to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  6. If desired, dust the top with powdered sugar before serving.
