Description
A delicious and easy-to-make onion bake featuring butter and herbs, perfect as a side dish or appetizer.
Ingredients
- 2 large yellow onions, sliced into rings
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 teaspoons dried thyme
- 2 teaspoons dried rosemary
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced onions with melted butter, thyme, rosemary, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss until the onions are well coated.
- Transfer the onion mixture to a greased baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- If using, sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the onions.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the onions are tender and slightly caramelized.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired before serving.
Notes
- For a bit of heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the onion mixture.
- Try using different types of cheese, such as cheddar or gouda, for a unique flavor twist.
