Description

A deliciously rich and indulgent cake featuring layers of toffee and chocolate, perfect for dessert lovers.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup toffee bits (such as Heath Bar bits)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Fold in the toffee bits and chocolate chips, if using.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  7. While the cake is baking, prepare the sauce by whisking together the powdered sugar and heavy cream in a small bowl until smooth.
  8. Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes. Drizzle the sauce over the warm cake before serving.
  9. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, try adding a teaspoon of espresso powder to the batter.
  • You can substitute the toffee bits with chopped nuts or dried fruit for a different twist.
  • For an extra indulgent treat, serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
