Description
Oysters Rockefeller is a classic dish featuring fresh oysters topped with a rich mixture of butter, herbs, and breadcrumbs, then baked to perfection.
Ingredients
- 12 fresh oysters, shucked and on the half shell
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in the chopped spinach and cook until wilted, about 2 minutes.
- Remove the skillet from heat and mix in the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, cayenne pepper, salt, black pepper, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce until well combined.
- Place the shucked oysters on a baking sheet. Spoon the spinach mixture evenly over each oyster.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the topping is golden and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a minute. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a dash of hot sauce to the spinach mixture.
- Try substituting the spinach with kale or Swiss chard for a different flavor profile.
