Description
A delicious twist on the traditional burger, combining the flavors of pepperoni pizza with a juicy beef patty.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef (80/20)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices mozzarella cheese
- 4 ounces sliced pepperoni
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
- Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, making a slight indentation in the center to prevent puffing during cooking.
- Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip them.
- Top each patty with a slice of mozzarella cheese and a few slices of pepperoni. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the burger is cooked to your desired doneness.
- While the burgers are cooking, lightly toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster.
- To assemble, place each burger patty on the bottom half of a bun, spoon marinara sauce over the top, and add the top half of the bun. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.
Notes
- For a spicy kick, add sliced jalapeños to the burger before grilling.
- Try using turkey or chicken instead of beef for a lighter option.
