Description

A delicious twist on the traditional burger, combining the flavors of pepperoni pizza with a juicy beef patty.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 4 ounces sliced pepperoni
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
  2. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, making a slight indentation in the center to prevent puffing during cooking.
  3. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip them.
  4. Top each patty with a slice of mozzarella cheese and a few slices of pepperoni. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the burger is cooked to your desired doneness.
  5. While the burgers are cooking, lightly toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster.
  6. To assemble, place each burger patty on the bottom half of a bun, spoon marinara sauce over the top, and add the top half of the bun. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.

Notes

  • For a spicy kick, add sliced jalapeños to the burger before grilling.
  • Try using turkey or chicken instead of beef for a lighter option.
