Description
Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes are a delicious twist on the classic sandwich, combining the flavors of a Philly cheesesteak with the ease of sloppy joes.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 medium green bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 4 ounces provolone cheese, shredded
- 4 hamburger buns
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and green bell pepper, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and no longer pink, about 6-8 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Pour in the beef broth and stir in the Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, paprika, and oregano. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Reduce the heat to low and mix in the softened cream cheese until fully incorporated.
- Stir in the shredded provolone cheese until melted and creamy.
- Toast the hamburger buns if desired. Spoon the cheesesteak mixture onto the bottom half of each bun, then top with the other half. Serve immediately.
Notes
- For added flavor, consider adding sliced jalapeños for a spicy kick.
- Swap out the ground beef for ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
- Top the Sloppy Joes with sautéed mushrooms for an extra layer of taste.
