Description

Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes are a delicious twist on the classic sandwich, combining the flavors of a Philly cheesesteak with the ease of sloppy joes.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 4 ounces provolone cheese, shredded
  • 4 hamburger buns

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and green bell pepper, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and no longer pink, about 6-8 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  4. Pour in the beef broth and stir in the Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, paprika, and oregano. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Reduce the heat to low and mix in the softened cream cheese until fully incorporated.
  6. Stir in the shredded provolone cheese until melted and creamy.
  7. Toast the hamburger buns if desired. Spoon the cheesesteak mixture onto the bottom half of each bun, then top with the other half. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider adding sliced jalapeños for a spicy kick.
  • Swap out the ground beef for ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
  • Top the Sloppy Joes with sautéed mushrooms for an extra layer of taste.
