Description
A delicious twist on classic Sloppy Joes, combining the flavors of Philly cheesesteak with a hearty beef mixture.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 medium green bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
- 4 hamburger buns
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the diced onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms (if using) to the skillet. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes, or until the vegetables are softened.
- Stir in the minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Reduce the heat to low and sprinkle the shredded provolone cheese over the beef mixture. Cover the skillet and let it sit for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted.
- Toast the hamburger buns if desired. Spoon the cheesesteak mixture onto the bottom half of each bun, then top with the other half. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add sliced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the beef mixture.
- Swap out the provolone cheese for cheddar or mozzarella for a different flavor profile.
