Description

A delicious twist on classic Sloppy Joes, combining the flavors of Philly cheesesteak with a hearty beef mixture.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the diced onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms (if using) to the skillet. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes, or until the vegetables are softened.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and sprinkle the shredded provolone cheese over the beef mixture. Cover the skillet and let it sit for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted.
  5. Toast the hamburger buns if desired. Spoon the cheesesteak mixture onto the bottom half of each bun, then top with the other half. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add sliced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the beef mixture.
  • Swap out the provolone cheese for cheddar or mozzarella for a different flavor profile.
