Description

Salisbury Steak Meatballs in Mushroom Gravy is a delicious and easy-to-make dish featuring tender meatballs in a rich mushroom gravy.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into 1.5-inch meatballs.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add sliced mushrooms and chopped onion. Sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
  5. Stir in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, bringing the mixture to a simmer.
  6. Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.
  7. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Stir the slurry into the skillet and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the gravy thickens.
  8. Serve warm, garnished with fresh thyme if desired.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef.
  • Add a splash of red wine to the gravy for extra depth of flavor.
