Description
Salisbury Steak Meatballs in Mushroom Gravy is a delicious and easy-to-make dish featuring tender meatballs in a rich mushroom gravy.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into 1.5-inch meatballs.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add sliced mushrooms and chopped onion. Sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, bringing the mixture to a simmer.
- Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Stir the slurry into the skillet and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the gravy thickens.
- Serve warm, garnished with fresh thyme if desired.
Notes
- For a healthier option, substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef.
- Add a splash of red wine to the gravy for extra depth of flavor.
