Description

Delicious salted caramel chocolate cookie sandwich bars that combine rich chocolate and sweet caramel in a delightful treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Spread half of the cookie dough evenly in the prepared baking pan.
  8. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the cookie dough, then spread the remaining cookie dough on top, covering the caramel.
  9. Sprinkle the sea salt over the top layer of cookie dough.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  11. Allow the bars to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before slicing into squares.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet.
  • Add chopped nuts, such as pecans or walnuts, to the cookie dough for added texture and flavor.
