Savory Breakfast Protein Biscuits are a delicious and nutritious way to start your day, packed with protein and flavor.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled sausage or bacon (optional)
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 large egg
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper until well combined.
- Stir in the shredded cheese and crumbled sausage or bacon, if using, until evenly distributed.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, and egg until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; the dough should be slightly sticky.
- Using a spoon or cookie scoop, drop heaping tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown on top.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a lighter option, substitute half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour.
- You can also add chopped herbs like chives or parsley for extra flavor.
- For a vegetarian version, omit the sausage or bacon and add in some diced bell peppers or spinach.
