Description
A delicious and hearty skillet dish featuring savory ground beef and tender fried cabbage, perfect for a quick weeknight meal.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium head of green cabbage, chopped (about 6 cups)
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until translucent.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
- Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in the chopped cabbage, paprika, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Cook for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender and slightly caramelized.
- Add the soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce to the skillet. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- For a low-carb option, you can add more vegetables like bell peppers or zucchini instead of rice or pasta.
- Spice it up by adding a teaspoon of cumin or chili powder for an extra kick.
