Description

A quick and delicious recipe for shrimp with broccoli in a savory garlic sauce, perfect for a weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooked rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, chicken broth, and sesame oil. Set aside.
  2. In a large skillet or wok, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the minced garlic and ginger, and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently, until they turn pink and opaque.
  5. Return the broccoli to the skillet and pour the sauce mixture over the shrimp and broccoli. Stir well to combine and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot over cooked rice.

Notes

  • For added heat, include red pepper flakes or a dash of sriracha in the sauce.
  • Substitute shrimp with chicken or tofu for a different protein option.
