Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup green onions, chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced flank steak, season with salt and pepper, and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until browned. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and ginger. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, and water until smooth. Pour this mixture into the skillet and bring to a simmer.
- Add the chopped green onions, sliced red bell pepper, and broccoli florets to the skillet. Cook for an additional 3-5 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
- Return the cooked flank steak to the skillet and stir to combine everything. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until heated through.
- Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds if desired.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes to the sauce.
- You can substitute the flank steak with chicken or tofu for a different protein option.
