Description
A quick and tasty Skillet Reuben recipe featuring ground beef, sauerkraut, and Swiss cheese served on lettuce leaves.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 cup sauerkraut, drained
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 large lettuce leaves (for serving)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in the sauerkraut, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.
- Sprinkle the shredded Swiss cheese over the beef mixture. Cover the skillet and let it cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
- In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise and Dijon mustard.
- To serve, place a generous scoop of the beef mixture onto a lettuce leaf and drizzle with the mayonnaise-Dijon sauce.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a few dashes of hot sauce to the beef mixture.
- Substitute the ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
