Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds cubed steak
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Place the cubed steak in the slow cooker.
  2. Add the sliced onion and mushrooms on top.
  3. In a bowl, mix together the beef broth, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  4. Pour this mixture over the steak and vegetables.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the steak is tender.
  6. About 30 minutes before serving, mix the cornstarch and water in a small bowl to create a slurry.
  7. Stir this into the slow cooker to thicken the sauce.
  8. Cover and cook for an additional 30 minutes.
  9. Serve the cubed steak with the sauce over mashed potatoes or rice.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider marinating the cubed steak in the Worcestershire sauce for a few hours before cooking.
