Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups fresh or frozen apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick spray or butter.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.
- In another bowl, combine the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, brown sugar, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. Distribute the apple mixture evenly over the batter.
- In a small bowl, mix together the remaining granulated sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture over the apples.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cobbler to cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, add 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg to the batter.
