Description

A delicious and unique dessert combining the flavors of snickerdoodle cookies and cream cheese with a classic apple pie.

Ingredients

  • 2 pre-made pie crusts (9-inch)
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 medium apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced (about 4 cups)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon sugar (1 tablespoon sugar mixed with 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until smooth and creamy.
  3. In another bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, brown sugar, flour, and nutmeg until well combined.
  4. Place one pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the bottom of the crust.
  5. Layer the apple mixture over the cream cheese layer, spreading it evenly. Dot the top with small pieces of butter.
  6. Cover with the second pie crust, sealing the edges and cutting slits for steam to escape. Sprinkle the top with cinnamon sugar.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Reduce the temperature to 350°F and continue baking for an additional 30-35 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
  8. Let the pie cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing to allow the filling to set.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, try adding a teaspoon of caramel sauce to the apple mixture.
  • You can also substitute the apples with pears for a different twist.
