Description
A flavorful recipe for Soy Garlic Chicken Thighs that combines savory soy sauce with sweet honey and aromatic garlic.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, and black pepper to create the marinade.
- Add the chicken thighs to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or up to overnight for best flavor.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Heat vegetable oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Remove chicken from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off, and place skin-side down in the skillet. Sear for about 5-7 minutes until the skin is golden brown.
- Flip the chicken thighs over and pour the remaining marinade over them. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
- Remove from the oven and let the chicken rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes to the marinade.
- You can also substitute chicken thighs with boneless, skinless chicken breasts for a leaner option.
- Serve with steamed rice or sautéed vegetables for a complete meal.
