- 1/2 lb steak, thinly sliced
- 8–10 shrimp, deveined and tails removed
For the Steak Marinade:
- 2 tablespoons Shaoxing wine
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
For the Veggies:
- 1 1/2 cups chopped mixed vegetables (e.g. shaved Brussels sprouts, bell peppers, carrots, kale, broccoli florets, onions)
For the Stir-Fry Sauce:
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- Optional: chili crisp or red pepper flakes for heat
Finishing Touch:
- 2 tablespoons oil (plus more if needed)
- Green onions, cut into 1-inch pieces
Instructions
-
Marinate the steak:
In a bowl, combine thinly sliced steak with Shaoxing wine, cornstarch, and soy sauce. Let marinate for at least 20 minutes while prepping other ingredients. -
Prepare the sauce:
In a separate bowl, whisk together chicken broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, oyster sauce, ginger, and cornstarch. Add chili crisp if you want heat. Set aside. -
Sear the steak:
Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Sear the marinated steak for 1 minute per side until browned. Remove and set aside. -
Cook the vegetables:
In the same pan, add a splash of oil if needed. Add chopped vegetables and stir-fry for 4–5 minutes until slightly tender but still crisp. -
Add the shrimp:
Stir in shrimp and cook until pink and curled into a C-shape, about 2–3 minutes. -
Bring it all together:
Add the sauce to the pan, followed by the cooked rice noodles and seared steak. Stir everything well to coat and let the sauce thicken, about 2 minutes. -
Finish and serve:
Stir in green onions just before serving. Serve hot as a full meal or with a light side of soup or salad.
Notes
- You can substitute steak with chicken or tofu for a lighter or vegetarian version.
- Use fresh or frozen shrimp—just be sure they’re fully thawed before cooking.
- Adjust the soy sauce or use low-sodium broth to control saltiness.
- Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in a skillet over medium heat with a splash of water or broth.
