Description

A delicious Sweet and Sour Cabbage Stir Fry with Ground Pork that combines savory and tangy flavors.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups green cabbage, shredded
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced (any color)
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the ground pork and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
  2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until the onion becomes translucent.
  3. Stir in the shredded cabbage, sliced bell pepper, and julienned carrot. Cook for another 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the vegetables are tender.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, ketchup, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Pour this mixture over the cooked vegetables and pork. Stir well to combine and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian option, substitute ground pork with crumbled tofu or tempeh and adjust cooking times accordingly.
  • Add a splash of pineapple juice for a sweeter flavor or toss in some cashews for added crunch.
