Description
A delicious and hearty casserole made with sausage, eggs, cream cheese, and hashbrowns, perfect for breakfast or brunch.
Ingredients
- 1 pound breakfast sausage
- 1 (30-ounce) bag frozen hashbrowns
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 6 large eggs
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika (optional)
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess grease and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and milk. Whisk until smooth.
- Add the eggs, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika (if using) to the cream cheese mixture. Whisk until well combined.
- In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spread the frozen hashbrowns evenly across the bottom.
- Layer the cooked sausage over the hashbrowns, followed by the egg and cream cheese mixture.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the casserole is set and the top is golden brown.
- Let the casserole cool for about 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños or use spicy sausage.
- Substitute the cheddar cheese with your favorite cheese, such as mozzarella or pepper jack, for a different flavor profile.
