Description

Tuna Melt Patties are a delicious twist on a classic dish, combining tuna with breadcrumbs, cheese, and seasonings to create flavorful patties that are perfect for serving on toasted bread.

Ingredients

  • 1 can (15 ounces) tuna, drained
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup diced onion
  • 1/4 cup diced celery
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for frying)
  • 4 slices of bread (for serving)
  • Optional: lettuce and tomato for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the drained tuna, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, cheddar cheese, onion, celery, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into patties, about 3 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch thick. You should get about 4 patties.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties to the skillet.
  4. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and heated through.
  5. While the patties are cooking, toast the bread slices in a toaster or on a separate skillet until golden brown.
  6. Serve the tuna melt patties on the toasted bread, topped with lettuce and tomato if desired.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a few dashes of hot sauce to the tuna mixture.
  • You can substitute the cheddar cheese with Swiss or pepper jack for a different flavor profile.
