Description
Tuna Melt Patties are a delicious twist on a classic dish, combining tuna with breadcrumbs, cheese, and seasonings to create flavorful patties that are perfect for serving on toasted bread.
Ingredients
- 1 can (15 ounces) tuna, drained
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup diced onion
- 1/4 cup diced celery
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for frying)
- 4 slices of bread (for serving)
- Optional: lettuce and tomato for serving
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the drained tuna, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, cheddar cheese, onion, celery, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into patties, about 3 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch thick. You should get about 4 patties.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties to the skillet.
- Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and heated through.
- While the patties are cooking, toast the bread slices in a toaster or on a separate skillet until golden brown.
- Serve the tuna melt patties on the toasted bread, topped with lettuce and tomato if desired.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a few dashes of hot sauce to the tuna mixture.
- You can substitute the cheddar cheese with Swiss or pepper jack for a different flavor profile.
