Description
Turkish Stuffed Poached Apricots are a delightful dessert made with tender poached apricots filled with a sweet mixture of walnuts, raisins, and coconut.
Ingredients
- 1 cup dried apricots
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
- 1/4 cup raisins
- 1/4 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Add the dried apricots to the saucepan and simmer for about 15 minutes, or until they are plump and tender. Remove the apricots from the syrup and set aside to cool slightly.
- In a mixing bowl, combine chopped walnuts, raisins, shredded coconut, and lemon juice. Mix well to create the filling.
- Carefully open each apricot and spoon a small amount of the filling into the center.
- Return the stuffed apricots to the saucepan with the syrup and simmer for an additional 5 minutes to warm through.
- Serve warm or chilled, drizzled with the syrup.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg to the filling.
- You can also substitute almonds for walnuts for a different texture and taste.
