Description
Turtle Caramel Cake is a decadent dessert featuring layers of rich chocolate cake, topped with caramel sauce, chocolate chips, and pecans.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 cup caramel sauce
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the softened butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes until well combined and smooth.
- Fold in the chopped pecans and chocolate chips.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- Once cooled, place one layer of cake on a serving plate. Drizzle with half of the caramel sauce.
- Top with the second layer of cake and drizzle the remaining caramel sauce over the top.
- Garnish with additional chopped pecans and chocolate chips, if desired.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, try adding a teaspoon of espresso powder to the batter.
- You can substitute the pecans with walnuts or almonds for a different nutty taste.
- For a more decadent dessert, serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.
