Description

Turtle Caramel Cake is a decadent dessert featuring layers of rich chocolate cake, topped with caramel sauce, chocolate chips, and pecans.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Add the softened butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes until well combined and smooth.
  4. Fold in the chopped pecans and chocolate chips.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  8. Once cooled, place one layer of cake on a serving plate. Drizzle with half of the caramel sauce.
  9. Top with the second layer of cake and drizzle the remaining caramel sauce over the top.
  10. Garnish with additional chopped pecans and chocolate chips, if desired.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, try adding a teaspoon of espresso powder to the batter.
  • You can substitute the pecans with walnuts or almonds for a different nutty taste.
  • For a more decadent dessert, serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.
