Description

Turtle Caramel Cake is a decadent dessert featuring layers of rich chocolate cake, caramel sauce, pecans, and chocolate chips, perfect for any special occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk together until well blended.
  3. Add the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth (the batter will be thin).
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove from the pans and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Once cooled, place one layer of cake on a serving plate. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the top, then sprinkle half of the chopped pecans and half of the chocolate chips.
  8. Top with the second layer of cake and repeat the process with the remaining caramel sauce, pecans, and chocolate chips.
  9. Slice and serve.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, consider adding a teaspoon of espresso powder to the batter.
  • You can also substitute walnuts for pecans if desired.
  • For a fun twist, layer in some whipped cream between the cake layers for added creaminess.
