  • 1 large Egg for egg wash; substitute with milk for vegan
For the Filling
  • 8 oz Brie Cheese keep the rind on for added flavor
  • 1/2 cup Jam choose cranberry, plum, or cherry
Garnish (optional)
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Herbs (thyme or chives) to enhance flavors

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and roll out the puff pastry until about 1/8-inch thick. Cut out 3-inch circles and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  2. Press a smaller cutter into the center of each circle to create indentations, then poke steam holes around the edges.
  3. Whisk together egg and a tablespoon of water to create an egg wash. Brush the edges of the pastry circles and refrigerate for 10 minutes.
  4. Bake the pastry circles for 8-10 minutes until lightly golden, then remove from oven.
  5. Deepen the indentations and add a dollop of jam into each indentation.
  6. Cut brie into small squares and place one in the center of each jam-filled indent.
  7. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 5-8 minutes until golden brown and brie is melted.
  8. Let cool for 5 minutes and garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
