Description

A delicious and easy breakfast option featuring sweet apples and cinnamon, all wrapped in a crispy tortilla.

Ingredients

  • 2 large flour tortillas
  • 1 large apple, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
  • Maple syrup for drizzling (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the sliced apples, ground cinnamon, and brown sugar. Toss until the apples are well coated.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the apple mixture and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender. Remove from heat.
  3. Place one tortilla in the skillet over low heat. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the tortilla.
  4. Spoon half of the cooked apple mixture over the cheese, and sprinkle with walnuts if using. Top with the remaining cheese and place the second tortilla on top.
  5. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the bottom tortilla is golden brown. Carefully flip the quesadilla and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the other side is golden and the cheese is melted.
  6. Remove from the skillet and let cool for a minute before cutting into wedges. Serve warm, drizzled with maple syrup if desired.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, use whole wheat tortillas and reduce the amount of brown sugar.
  • Add a pinch of nutmeg or a splash of vanilla extract to the apple mixture for extra flavor.
