Description
A delicious and easy breakfast option featuring sweet apples and cinnamon, all wrapped in a crispy tortilla.
Ingredients
- 2 large flour tortillas
- 1 large apple, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
- Maple syrup for drizzling (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the sliced apples, ground cinnamon, and brown sugar. Toss until the apples are well coated.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the apple mixture and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender. Remove from heat.
- Place one tortilla in the skillet over low heat. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the tortilla.
- Spoon half of the cooked apple mixture over the cheese, and sprinkle with walnuts if using. Top with the remaining cheese and place the second tortilla on top.
- Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the bottom tortilla is golden brown. Carefully flip the quesadilla and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the other side is golden and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from the skillet and let cool for a minute before cutting into wedges. Serve warm, drizzled with maple syrup if desired.
Notes
- For a healthier option, use whole wheat tortillas and reduce the amount of brown sugar.
- Add a pinch of nutmeg or a splash of vanilla extract to the apple mixture for extra flavor.
