Description

A delicious dessert featuring layers of crescent roll dough, cream cheese filling, and cinnamon apples, topped with a sweet glaze.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1–2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the baking dish: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9 × 13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick cooking spray. Toss the sliced apples with the lemon juice to help prevent browning.
  2. Make the cream cheese filling: In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and 1/2 cup granulated sugar until smooth. Add the vanilla extract and egg. Beat until creamy and fully combined. Set aside.
  3. Add the crescent dough base: Unroll one can of crescent roll dough. Press the dough into the bottom of the prepared baking dish, pinching the seams together to form one continuous layer. Bake for 5–7 minutes to help the bottom layer set slightly. Remove from the oven.
  4. Add the cream cheese and apples: Spread the cream cheese filling evenly over the partially baked dough. Arrange the sliced apples in an even layer over the filling.
  5. Prepare the cinnamon topping: In a small bowl, combine the remaining 1/3 cup granulated sugar, cinnamon, and flour. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the apples. Unroll the second can of crescent dough and gently place it over the apple layer. Pinch the seams together as much as possible. Brush the top with melted butter.
  6. Bake: Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the crescent dough is cooked through. If the top browns too quickly, loosely cover it with aluminum foil for the remaining baking time. Remove from the oven and allow it to cool for at least 20–30 minutes before slicing.
  7. Add the glaze: Whisk the powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon of milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl. Add more milk a little at a time until the glaze is smooth and drizzleable. Drizzle over the slightly cooled bake before serving.
