Description
Apple Crisp Stuffed Apples are a delightful fall treat that combines the sweetness of baked apples with a crunchy oat topping.
Ingredients
- 3 large Granny Smith apples
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
- Vanilla ice cream (for serving, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Core the apples, making sure to leave the bottom intact to hold the filling.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt, melted butter, and walnuts (if using). Mix until well combined.
- Stuff each cored apple with the oat mixture, pressing down gently to pack it in.
- Place the stuffed apples in a baking dish and add about 1/4 inch of water to the bottom of the dish to help steam the apples.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the apples are tender but still hold their shape.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.
Notes
- For a spicier flavor, add 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg to the filling.
- Try using different apple varieties like Honeycrisp or Fuji for a sweeter taste.
