Description

Delicious Apple Pie Cinnamon Rolls that combine the flavors of apple pie with the soft, fluffy texture of cinnamon rolls.

Ingredients

  • 240 ml warm milk
  • 7 g active dry yeast
  • 50 g granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 60 g unsalted butter, melted
  • 500 g all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 3 medium apples, peeled and finely diced
  • 30 g unsalted butter
  • 60 g brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 60 g unsalted butter, softened
  • 100 g brown sugar
  • 1½ tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 120 g powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of the sugar. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add the remaining sugar, egg, melted butter, flour, and salt. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1–1½ hours, or until doubled in size.
  4. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Cook for about 5–7 minutes until the apples begin to soften.
  5. Mix the cornstarch with water, then stir it into the apples. Cook for another 1–2 minutes until thickened. Remove from the heat and let cool completely.
  6. Mix the softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon into a spreadable paste.
  7. Roll the dough into a rectangle, approximately 35 × 45 cm. Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough, then spoon the cooled apple filling on top.
  8. Starting from the long side, tightly roll the dough into a log. Cut into 10–12 equal rolls.
  9. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise for 30–45 minutes, until puffy. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 175°C.
  10. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. Let the rolls cool for about 10 minutes.
  11. Whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle generously over the warm cinnamon rolls. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Ensure the milk is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast.
  • Let the apple filling cool completely before adding it to the dough.
  • These rolls are best served warm.
