Description
Delicious Apple Pie Cinnamon Rolls that combine the flavors of apple pie with the soft, fluffy texture of cinnamon rolls.
Ingredients
- 240 ml warm milk
- 7 g active dry yeast
- 50 g granulated sugar
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 60 g unsalted butter, melted
- 500 g all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp salt
- 3 medium apples, peeled and finely diced
- 30 g unsalted butter
- 60 g brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp water
- 60 g unsalted butter, softened
- 100 g brown sugar
- 1½ tbsp ground cinnamon
- 120 g powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp milk
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of the sugar. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add the remaining sugar, egg, melted butter, flour, and salt. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1–1½ hours, or until doubled in size.
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Cook for about 5–7 minutes until the apples begin to soften.
- Mix the cornstarch with water, then stir it into the apples. Cook for another 1–2 minutes until thickened. Remove from the heat and let cool completely.
- Mix the softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon into a spreadable paste.
- Roll the dough into a rectangle, approximately 35 × 45 cm. Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough, then spoon the cooled apple filling on top.
- Starting from the long side, tightly roll the dough into a log. Cut into 10–12 equal rolls.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise for 30–45 minutes, until puffy. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 175°C.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. Let the rolls cool for about 10 minutes.
- Whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle generously over the warm cinnamon rolls. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Ensure the milk is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast.
- Let the apple filling cool completely before adding it to the dough.
- These rolls are best served warm.
