Description
A delicious and easy-to-make dessert that combines the flavors of apple pie and snickerdoodle cookies in a delightful dump cake.
Ingredients
- Apple Layer
- 2 cans (21 oz each) apple pie filling
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Snickerdoodle Topping
- 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Spread the apple pie filling evenly across the bottom of the baking dish.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon and nutmeg over the apples, then drizzle with vanilla extract. Gently stir to distribute.
- Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the apple layer. Do not mix the cake mix into the apples.
- Slowly drizzle the melted butter over the entire surface, trying to cover as much of the dry cake mix as possible.
- In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the top.
- Bake for 45–50 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the apple filling is bubbling around the edges.
- Let cool for 10–15 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
- For extra snickerdoodle flavor, add ½ teaspoon cream of tartar to the cinnamon-sugar topping.
