Description

A delicious and easy-to-make dessert that combines the flavors of apple pie and snickerdoodle cookies in a delightful dump cake.

Ingredients

  • Apple Layer
  • 2 cans (21 oz each) apple pie filling
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Snickerdoodle Topping
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Spread the apple pie filling evenly across the bottom of the baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle the cinnamon and nutmeg over the apples, then drizzle with vanilla extract. Gently stir to distribute.
  4. Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the apple layer. Do not mix the cake mix into the apples.
  5. Slowly drizzle the melted butter over the entire surface, trying to cover as much of the dry cake mix as possible.
  6. In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  7. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the top.
  8. Bake for 45–50 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the apple filling is bubbling around the edges.
  9. Let cool for 10–15 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
  • For extra snickerdoodle flavor, add ½ teaspoon cream of tartar to the cinnamon-sugar topping.
