Delicious baked Honeycrisp apples topped with a buttery pecan and brown sugar mixture, perfect for a warm dessert.
Ingredients
- 4 Honeycrisp apples, cored and halved
- 1/2 cup pecans, chopped
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup rolled oats (optional)
- Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, salt, and vanilla extract. Stir until well mixed.
- Add the chopped pecans and rolled oats (if using) to the mixture, and stir until the pecans are well coated.
- Place the cored and halved Honeycrisp apples in a baking dish, cut side up. Spoon the butter pecan mixture evenly over the apples.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream if desired.
Notes
- For added flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg or ginger to the topping mixture.
- Substitute walnuts or almonds for the pecans for a different nutty flavor.
