Description

Delicious bakery-style blueberry muffins with a sweet maple glaze.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1½ cups fresh blueberries
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour, for tossing blueberries
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (for glaze)
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup (for glaze)
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Heat oven to 400°F. Line a 12-cup muffin pan with paper liners.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Mix the wet ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together melted butter, eggs, milk, sour cream, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Combine: Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Add the blueberries: Toss the blueberries with 1 tablespoon flour, then gently fold them into the batter.
  6. Fill the muffin cups: Divide the batter among the liners, filling each about ¾ to nearly full for tall muffin tops. Press a few extra blueberries onto the tops.
  7. Bake: Bake at 400°F for 5 minutes, then reduce the oven temperature to 350°F and bake for another 15–18 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Make the glaze: Stir together melted butter, maple syrup, powdered sugar, and vanilla.
  9. Finish: Let the muffins cool for about 10 minutes, then drizzle the maple-butter glaze over the tops.
  10. Serve: Enjoy warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh blueberries.
  • Do not overmix the batter to ensure fluffy muffins.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature.
