A delicious twist on traditional banana bread, these Banana Bread Brownies are topped with a rich brown butter glaze for an indulgent treat.
Ingredients
- 2 ripe bananas
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth.
- Add the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar to the bananas and mix well.
- Stir in the eggs and vanilla extract until fully combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in walnuts if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- While the brownies are baking, prepare the brown butter glaze by melting butter in a saucepan over medium heat until it turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma.
- Remove from heat and whisk in powdered sugar and a splash of milk until smooth.
- Once the brownies are done, let them cool before drizzling the brown butter glaze on top.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use dark brown sugar instead of light brown sugar.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- These brownies can be frozen for up to 2 months; thaw before serving.
