Description
A delicious and easy-to-make dessert featuring ripe bananas baked in a sweet cobbler batter, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 2 ripe bananas, sliced
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups hot water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
- In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract until combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Spread the sliced bananas evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Pour the batter over the bananas, spreading it evenly.
- In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter.
- Carefully pour the hot water over the entire dish. Do not stir; the water will create a sauce as it bakes.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let it cool for about 10 minutes before serving. This dessert is best served warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Notes
- For added flavor, mix in a handful of chopped nuts or chocolate chips into the batter before baking.
- Try substituting the bananas with peaches or berries for a different fruit cobbler experience.
