Description
A unique twist on a classic grilled cheese sandwich featuring the delightful combination of Brie cheese and fresh blueberries.
Ingredients
- 4 slices sourdough bread
- 8 oz (225 g) Brie cheese, sliced (rind on or off)
- ½ cup fresh blueberries
- 2 tablespoons blueberry preserves
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (optional)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
Instructions
- Butter one side of each slice of bread.
- Flip the bread over and spread 1 tablespoon of blueberry preserves on two slices.
- Layer with the Brie cheese, fresh blueberries, and thyme, if using.
- Drizzle each sandwich with a little honey.
- Top with the remaining bread slices, buttered side facing out.
- Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-low heat.
- Cook the sandwiches for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and the Brie is melted.
- Let rest for 1 minute, then slice and serve warm.
Notes
- Cook over medium-low heat so the cheese melts before the bread gets too dark.
- Use ripe, fresh blueberries for the best flavor.
- Brie pairs beautifully with sourdough, but ciabatta or country bread also work well.
- Add toasted walnuts or pecans for extra crunch.
