Description

Brown Butter Apple Blondies are a delicious fall treat that combines the rich flavor of brown butter with the sweetness of apples and a hint of cinnamon.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 large apple, peeled, cored, and finely diced
  • ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Continue cooking, stirring frequently, until the butter turns golden brown and smells nutty, about 5–7 minutes.
  3. Remove from the heat and let the brown butter cool for about 10 minutes.
  4. Whisk the brown butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until smooth.
  5. Add the eggs and vanilla extract. Whisk until well combined.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  7. Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.
  8. Fold in the diced apple and optional nuts.
  9. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  10. Bake for 28–35 minutes, or until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  11. Let the blondies cool completely before slicing.
  12. For the glaze, whisk powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon together. Drizzle over the cooled blondies.
  13. Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

  • Use a firm, slightly tart apple such as Granny Smith to balance the sweetness and keep the apple pieces from becoming too soft.
