Description
A delicious layered dessert combining rich brownies, creamy cheesecake, and sweet caramel, topped with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
Ingredients
- Brownies
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1½ cups granulated sugar
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Cheesecake Layer
- 16 oz cream cheese, softened
- ¾ cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- Caramel Layer
- 1 cup caramel sauce, divided
- ½ cup chopped pecans
- ½ tsp sea salt, optional
- Topping
- 1½ cups whipped cream or whipped topping
- ¼ cup caramel sauce
- ¼ cup chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips
- Extra chopped pecans, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, sugar, and cocoa powder. Add the eggs and vanilla and whisk until smooth.
- Stir in flour and salt just until combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Spread the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 22–27 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Do not overbake.
- Let the brownies cool completely, then cut them into bite-sized cubes.
- Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth and creamy.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with ½ cup powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture.
- Place a layer of brownie cubes in the bottom of a large trifle dish or individual dessert cups.
- Drizzle with some caramel sauce, then spread a layer of cheesecake filling over the brownies.
- Sprinkle with chopped pecans and repeat the layers: brownies, caramel, cheesecake, and pecans until the dish is nearly full.
- Finish with whipped cream. Drizzle the top with caramel sauce and sprinkle with chocolate shavings and extra pecans.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving. For the best flavor and texture, chill overnight.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate cocoa powder in the brownies.
- Feel free to substitute the pecans with your favorite nuts or omit them entirely.
- This dessert can be made a day in advance for convenience.
